A Legacy of Serving Institutions
First National Bank of Memphis established
The "bond division" begins as a small department at FNB's offices in Downtown Memphis. Memphis' location and the agricultural lending cycle in the mid-South were key factors in our growth.
First National Bank changes its name to First Tennessee
FTN Capital Markets (now FHN Financial) opens its first regional offices, followed by New York and Chicago
First Tennessee becomes First Horizon and merges with Iberia Bank. The combined company would be one of the largest financial services companies headquartered in the South and one of the top 25 banks in the U.S. in deposits.
